Sorry about your laptop, love! I have some more questions! Do you read much? If so, what’s some of your favorite books and why? What’s your favorite genre? -Secret Santa 🎅🏼

Thanks, Santa. ❤

I read constantly when I’m not writing, and my choices tend to vary. My favorite books are as follows, in this order:

1. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë

– I love so much about this book. Jane is such a wonderful, independent female protagonist with actual flaws, and Edward, too, is so well written as her love interest. The imagery and general ethereal tone this book has is just lovely.
2. As You Wish by Cary Elwes – This book is hilarious, and more than that, capable of eliciting a huge amount of pathos in the moments where it counts. This book made me tear up at work, as well as actually cackle out loud. If you’re in the mood for something that just makes you feel good, you should read this one.
3. A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin – I’m sucker for this whole series and have admittedly now read it more than once. The world the series deals with is so dense and lush, and I love becoming immersed in it.
4. Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman – Witch sisters. Maybe they aren’t actually witches, maybe they are. Either way, it’s a solid read with some fun sappy bits and for that, I love it.

My favorite genre is unquestionably fantasy/sci-fi. I love a good love story too, but generally, it’s easiest for me to read books that are either fantasy with a lot of world building like Lord of The Rings/Game of Thrones or include an aspect of sci-fi. I struggle to hang on with other stuff unless it was written in the 19th century. I absolutely love Victorian lit.
