Seasons
The windowpane gone a deep sapphire
limned with a shimmering golden glow
cast by fingers of flame dancing playfully
on the tips of tall white candles,
.
A winters evening etched like frost lines
run wild across the new ice of a silent lake
huddled between fir cloaked hills crowned white
as the stillness of the patiently sleeping earth
settles gently over my mind as I watch you,
.
I see the newborn beauty of fresh fallen snow
in the smooth curves of your neck and shoulder,
All the intense glory of riotous fall foilage
shining in the firelit reflections in your eyes,
Summer’s warm sun and soft languid winds
live still in your laugh and gentle smile
while the irrepressible energy of life that is Spring
ripples out from you to wash this room clean,
.
You are of all seasons
of all things and all times,
A beauty inherent yet intricate,
as simple as a sunset
and as infinite as the starry sky,
I feel the meaning of forever at your touch
but I am not asking for the eternal tonight
just the evening in your arms,
midnight whispers beneath blankets
and the morning light in your eyes,
these things
that no measure of time
can ever take from me
.
