i take back everything i said about people wanting to fuck clocks or skeletons or whatever if it means people will stop writing out fantasies about what 7 real ass dudes would be like if they were into piss and how they would react to you revealing that you have salmonella in the middle of sex

i’m just blown away by how “we need some positive lgbt stories” has gotten warped into “any lgbt movie with a sad plot or scene, even if its Quite Literally Something That Happens Irl, is BAD”

I guess for me the biggest qualm is that LGBT+ people continue to not have pleasant representations, and a lot of movies and shows feel the need to near fetishize the pains and difficulties that come with being LGBT+ in the real world.

I think a lot of us just want to see pleasant, easy representation so much that we end up pushing away all upsetting (even if realistic) portrayals. I won’t say a movie or show is Bad for it, but I’m ready to see some like unrealistically blissful gay people for once. Straight people get that so often.

can you believe female hysteria was considered like an actual medical thing… god

mary louise moneybags in 1880: im horny all the time and also sad and i feel dissatisfied with my shitty life i dont want kids i hate my dad and my husband

dr mis o’geny: i diagnose you with WOMAN

fun fact if you’re a man you’re not allowed to laugh at this joke bcus i don’t go a day without hearing about how girls are all overemotional unstable and crazy so you all still think like this you’ve just gotten better at phrasing it in a way that doesnt seem like bullshit at first glance

you can actually still be diagnosed with hysteria. they call it “conversion disorder” now, which essentially means “mental health problem/unaddressed trauma manifesting as literally any severe and inexplicable physical symptom”. almost everyone diagnosed with it is a woman.

(it’s also worth noting that most people who recieve a diagnosis of conversion disorder, afaik, actually have myalgic encephalitis/chronic fatigue syndrome. here is jen brea’s beautiful ted talk addressing CFS and her previous misdiagnosis)
