When Donald Trump was elected president in 2016, Republicans in Congress were very optimistic this would mean they could finally pass a bill legalizing discrimination against same-sex couples. This week, Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) followed through, reintroducing the so-called “First Amendment Defense Act” (FADA).
Same sex couples AND single mothers, specifically. Men can have extramarital sex, but if a woman is unmarried and has a kid, someone should be allowed to deny her housing and a job because it’s proof that she engaged in extramarital sex.
Fuck this ridiculous, insane bill. May it die a thousand ugly, legislative deaths on the floor before it ever comes to pass.
