It’s Santa here! Who’s your favorite character from Tanz and why? ❤️

HELLO AGAIN SANTA!!! ❤ ❤ ❤

This is the biggest question you’ve asked me thus far and it’s so hard to answer. I guess I would say I like everyone for different reasons, but I think Alfred is my favorite.

He’s very kind and even though he’s absent-minded, he’s also a genuinely smart guy (my headcanon post has him with a PhD). What gets me the most is how unwaveringly thoughtful he is, and how he cares SO MUCH about things.

I mean, what a sweetie.

psst can u share some krolfred headcanons? i’m asking for a friend

OH my God. Hi.

I’m so happy that you came to me for this because Krolfred is basically consuming my every waking moment these days. I spend so much time dissecting lyrics, thinking, imagining, and (sometimes) writing about it, so I have Many Thoughts. Warning: most of my headcanons hinge on Alfred living at Schloss von Krolock post-change, for whatever reason, but that’s probably because my fic has them in one place post-Alfred’s change too.

Here we go!

1. Krolock has had his eye on Alfred since the very beginning, when he strayed from Abronsius. Alfred’s actually his original target, and while he’s interested in Sarah as well, he’s interested in Alfred as a companion more than a snack. This also explains the featuring of the “he ho he” musical phrase in “Sie irren, Professor”.

2. I’ve always considered Alfred to be in his mid-late twenties, as opposed to any closer in age to Sarah, simply because it makes the most sense for him to have completed his studies and be post-doc researching with Abronsius. Some portrayals obviously do their own thing with Alfred’s mental and/or emotional age, but he seems, to me, like an emotionally young 26-27 year old.

3. Krolock himself is around, I’d wager, probably close to 300 years old, if not more, by the time the events of Tanz come around. I’d say he would have been a youth in the 1590s, and by the time of his change in 1617, somewhere around age 45 or so.

4. Herbert is permanently annoyed by the entire thing. It’s nothing personal against Alfred, just the normal resentment that can happen towards someone who looks not far from your physical age and lives in your house…and is banging your dad.

¯_(ツ)_/¯

5. Alfred’s nickname, in full, is “Doktor Süßemause”. Sometimes Krolock settles for “Mause” for brevity’s sake. Either one induces Herbert to gagging.

6. Krolock and Alfred like to read together, sometimes just in companionable silence, and sometimes they read out loud to each other.

7. Krolock eventually has to teach Alfred how to dance properly and Alfred never quite gets the hang of it, but Krolock is charmed by his attempts nonetheless.

8. Alfred really, truly enjoys braiding Krolock’s hair and is astoundingly good at it after braiding his older sister’s hair for his entire childhood.

9. By that same token, Krolock has a minor obsessive issue with Alfred’s yellow curly hair and often ends up touching it/playing with it without even realizing he’s doing it.

10. Two words: Cape Cuddles.

realizing that by virtue of how Krolock’s musical line in Vor dem Schloss inspires part of Carpe Noctem, Krolock had to be listening to Alfred from the very beginning of the musical to supply “He ho he” at the beginning of Sie irren, Professor………………………………….

Hi, it’s Tanz Secret Santa! Omg, I also very much love Steve Barton, all his recordings as Krolock are brilliant! And I also LOVE Max Niemeyer, ugh he is the beaniest of precious beans!!! 😍😍😍 I am also very new to Tanz, so I’ll love looking the other actors up! Just was also curious, do you have a favorite production and song from the musical? Hope you’re having a great weekend! ILY2!!! 😘

fish-d:

honestly as much as i love seeing other people’s interpretations of the graf, barton will always be my absolute favorite. a lot of the more modern krolocks come off as cold and emotionless (ivan) or smug and disdainful (drewww), and those are perfectly valid interpretations of the character! but barton has this melancholy and warmth to him that i ADORE. like in his “Vor dem Schloss”, when he says the “ich bin ein nachtvogel” line, he giggles at his own gatdamn joke ??? that’s fucking adorable ? you really get the sense that he’s a lonely dad who’s had a hard 300-odd years but he still has a lot of love to give. i’ve made myself emotional goddamnit (PLEASE watch this video of his “Die Unstillbare Gier”, it’s the rawest emotional performance i have EVER seen)

also, fun fact, he did english demo recordings of the Dance of the Vampires translations for unstillbare and gott ist tot ( “Confessions of a Vampire” (x) and “Original Sin” (x), respectively )! i mean the translations are still janky as fuck but its cool to hear him do the graf in english

iiiii got into tanz maybe? a little under two months ago? so i feel you >u< i just, uhh. have been consuming tanz media nonstop since

👀

OK OK BACK TO UR ACTUAL QUESTION my favorite production is. mmmmm i think i mentioned this the last ask but the 2006 Hamburg Tarte proshot ( handsubbed on youtube here ) and the… I think ‘97? Barton proshot, which my friend had to rip off of piratebay :’) there are like 11 pixels on the screen but its worth it to see My Boy Steve

and my favorite song iiiis probably a tie between “Vor dem Schloss” and “Die Unstillbare Gier”, but special mention goes to “Carpe Noctem” and “Sie irren, Professor!”. basically any time krolock is either a) being emotional or b) on the stage with alfred, i lose my goddamn marbles – ESPECIALLY if its a krolock who uhhh tends to Get Physical (like here with aleksandr sukhanov and sergey denisov or here with barton and aris)

ANYWAY SORRY ABT GIVIN U HOMEWORK LMAO but i hope your weekend has been good too !!! <3333
