people hate on twilight but it is THE only movie ive ever watched where the 17 year olds actually act like 17 year olds, complete with awkward silences and overall dumbassery. nobody is smooth or clever at all, everyone is uncomfortable, half of bella’s responses to anything that happens to her are “um” and tbh that’s true to life! that’s cinematic realism baby like it or not
eclipse is just a bunch of wild nonsense because it jumps back and forth between edward going “the wolves are dangerous bella!!! you could get hurt!!!” and jacob going “vampires are dangerous bella!!! you could get hurt!!!”
and bella going “perhaps, possibly, both of you are dangerous, and, just maybe, i have gotten hurt already. multiple times. just a theory that i have”
I find the twilight renaissance funny, and I’m all for eliminating cringe culture, but let’s remember that smeyer changed Quileute legends and beliefs to fit her narrative, gave animalistic/abusive traits to her Native characters, reinforcing the uncontrollable “savage” stereotype, made the “pure”, pale vampires constantly insult and antagonize the werewolves (whose land they were living on) for no reason, and overall wrote some pretty racist stuff about her Native characters
